The PlayStation Vita has its game lineup planned out up until 2013, according to Sony.
Speaking in an interview that appeared on the PlayStation Blog, Shuhei Yoshida, vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and president of Worldwide Studios, explained that preparation for the PSP's launch line-up had started in 2008.
"We have a fairly firm plan right up to 2013 but, because PS Vita gives us the opportunity to work on smaller titles like Escape Plan and Sound Shapes, I’m certain we will end up working on more games than we even know about at this moment," he revealed.
The executive also commented that Sony is looking to learn from its past mistakes with the new console.
"In the past we launched PSP and then shifted our attention to PS3 when that came on the horizon, which we now concede was a mistake," he said.
"So with PS Vita we are working on this huge range of titles and planning ahead for a constant supply of excellent games."
Everybody's Golf (also known as Hot Shots Golf) topped the list of best selling games at Vita's launch, followed by Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Yoshida-san revealed.
In addition, the vice president backed augmented reality (AR) games in the interview, stating there was a need to convince hardcore gamers of their value and that AR is more than just a gimmick.
As reported on Gamezine yesterday, the PS Vita sold 321,407 across its opening two days.
Upcoming games for the new handheld include LittleBigPlanet, Resistance: Burning Skies and ModNation: Road Trip.
